Instructor Bio

Sarah was raised in Scotland and was exposed to wellness from an early age  accompanying her father to the health food store. His passion for fitness, nutrition and a balanced simple life was gathered from his time in India. 

Sarah has a background in dance, studying under the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus in the U.K. and performed Ballet, Highland , Spanish, Tap and Jazz. She has taught fitness classes including aerobics,cardio pump and kick-boxing in corporate environments both in the UK and Canada.

She received her Yoga Teacher Training through East to West Yoga (recognized by Yoga Alliance)first attaining Yoga Group Exercise Training, Yoga Exercise Specialist Training and a 350-hour teacher-training certificate. Sarah also spent two years studying physiology, anatomy and the language of medicine at George Brown College to enhance her skills as a Yoga teacher. She is also a standing member of the Federation of Ontario Yoga Teachers and the International Childbirth Education Association.

One of her passions is Prenatal yoga and Massage and incorporates Thai Yoga Massage into her classes. Sarah has further enhanced her teaching skills with Michelle Cormack, the owner of 5 Elements Studio who is a Childbirth Educator, Doula and Labour Assistant.  Sarah is in training as a Doula with the International Childbirth Education Association.

Sasmita Yoga and http://www.growingbaby.net are working together to bring the best possible prenatal options to pregnant woman and their partners. They offer a unique workshop series combining childbirth education and yoga. A 10% discount is offered by both if you take a class or workshop with one and then the other.

Weekly prenatal yoga classes are offered in the Leslieville area in Toronto along with labour coaching.

Sarah also teaches Karma Yoga at the Heritage Nursing Home every week to give back to the community and to feed her soul.

Wellness retreat days incorporating yoga, art and organic food is an ongoing joint venture with The Artfull Life and Lemon Twist Catering. Customized events are available to private or corporate groups who wish a unique, restorative day.  

Her belief is that continual physical movement, meditation, mind body awareness and good nutrition is the road to well-being and happiness.
